Cathedral Square Redevelopment
565 Hay Street was the first building to reach practical completion in the revitalised Cathedral Square precinct in the Perth CBD and incorporated the redevelopment and refurbishment of the former Public Trustee building.
The 11 level, refurbished building includes approximately 7,500m2 of Grade A commercial office space and 340m2 of retail space on the ground floor. The building was designed in accordance with the Green Building Council of Australia ‘Green Star’ Office Version 3 to achieve a minimum 4 Star Green Star Rating and a minimum 4.5 Star NABERS Rating.
Works involved completely renovating the building back to its original core with the removal of all building fabric including the façade, existing services, fixtures and fittings. The concrete superstructure was substantially retained and reused, plus extensive cladding was applied to the external façade, echoing the colour of the masonry in the adjoining heritage buildings.
Beck Advisory conducted and finalised negotiations with the State Government to lease the entire building for the State Administrative Tribunal for 25 years. Construction was completed ahead of schedule in August 2014.
